About DO

My name is David Orosz. I am a level and game designer in love with lofty challenges and a good story.

In college I was a student of all media. I studied theatre, TV and Movie production, wrote screenplays, acted and directed, and especially played video games. I moved to Los Angeles to work in entertainment where I learned how to make video games.

A good story is transformative. We learn about who we are, our morality, our priorities, our sense of humor, what scares us, all by experiencing the quandries of heroes and villians. Their experience becomes our own. I love how video games add personal agency into the mix as well, allowing the player to make real decisions that solidify the experience as a personal one.

My favorite games tend to be heavily scripted, story driven games that pull at the heartstrings, test my abilities as a player, and challenge my understanding of myself:  Bioshock, Last of Us, Metal Gear, Uncharted, Spiderman, God of War, Portal, Stanely Parable, Professor Layton, Hellblade, Batman Arkham Series, Final Fantasy, to name a few.

I have a soft spot for VR development.  The platform is incomparably immersive and can transport the player in a way that tricks the brain into believing the fantasy is real. There are obvious adoption issues, but there’s also a potential in VR to make and do things that have never been done before. I love to test limits, try new things, and see to what new thoughts that exploration leads.

I thank you for coming to my website. Feel free to have a look at my portfolio, CV, or to send me an email.
